In 2002, Yerba Buena Center For The Arts in San Francisco held a one night fashion catwalk event that paired the Bay Area Now 3 artists with local designers to create one-of-a-kind clothing item. I was lucky to be paired with the super talented Alissa Anderson.
During that time the war drums were beating hard for the War in Afghanistan. We decided to recreate characters from my 11111111.11111111.COM project. The idea is to reverse the logic of using fashion as a statement for identity. What if the identity is so strong that it redefines the fashion and the culture surrounding it?
