Above two are the pictures from the Animal Care And Control NYC on PetFinder.com before we adopt Wiki.
We adopted WIKI from the Animal Care And Control NYCon December 26, 2006. At the time she was a 9.5 months old American Staffordshire Terrier mix weighting 29.5 lbs. She was born on March 8, 2006 and she was from the Bronx in New York City.
So funny local Fox news interviewed me when we adopted Wiki from the pound. At the time City Council member Peter Vallone was proposing a pit bull ban in NYC.
She has been in the shelter since December 19, 2006. Originally named Missy, she was surrendered by her previous owner because his baby is allergic to the dog.
We take her to see the vet and we found out the reason of her hair loss is because of Demodectic Mange, she also has Respiratory Infection that causes her breathing very hardly and loudly, plus she got an Ear Infection that makes her ear smells very yeasty. So we put her on antibiotics and ear drops, and hope she will get better soon…
Here’s some pics of Our New Ultimate Peeing and Pooping Machine from the 1st and 2nd day after we got her. WIKI snores louder than my Grandma!
Our first picture together, right after we adopted her. We were living in a tiny studio on Henry Street in Chinatown, NYC. The building was vey old and it was a 6 floor walkup. Wiki doesn’t know how to go down stairs in the beginning. We lived very simple the entire time in Chinatown- a mattress on the floor, two cheap folding chars and a folder table and a hand me down conditioner. We pour all our resources in the working stations, I was making arts, Young was focusing on her photography.

Playdate With Ajax!
She LOVES playing with Ajax– a 1 year old Blue coat Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
Although Ajax most of time just wanna play fetch with his daddy Johnny, Wiki manage to bug him and lick his ear for an hour and finally Ajax say “hey you are so annoying lets see what you got” and they start playing for another hour.
Wiki at 6 Months!
A month past supa fast with lots of chewing/ nipping, poop-picking, pee-wiping, obedience training, 2 hours walking…Now she weights 35.5 lbs and obviously grows quite a bit. She destroy her toys like no tommorrow. Above is her hipster look! Will post more pics of her and toys…
Wiki’s First Snow!
At first Wiki is really curious about all the powder and has quite some fun checking it out, and it only take 10 mins that she realize she doesn’t like cold temperature that much.
We use Musher’s Secret for her paws and it seems to work pretty well.
Wiki at 6.5 months!
So far in this 1/2 month she gains 2.5 pounds, now she weights 38 lbs.
As you can see from the pictures below her mange is recovering very well, her hair turns very shiny and are growing VERY SLOWLY filling the bald patches, I guess it’s because of the winter season.
Her diet includes Trader Joe’s Kibbles, lotta fresh vegetables and fruits- carrot, celery, cilantro, apples, banana, cabbage, long napa, bok-choi, frozen mackeral, vitamin pills and of course peanut butter (for Kong)…etc. Actually, so far we have not find anything she doesn’t like yet. SHE EATS EVERYTHING! Monster!
She is 100% housebroken, 200% healthy and 300% happy (we hope), and continue to poops so much you won’t believe it!
We always joke that she is like those 13 years old gymnist girl- super young with all crazy muscle…
Now average we go out at least 2 hours per day, and now she finally get out of her shyness at the dog park, the other day she plays with a 11 months old 100lbs lab-mix named Freddie for an hour, rolling in the dirt entire time, of course when we came back she instantly fall asleep- without taking a bath, ahhhhh!
Wiki is always happy with a huge smile!
Backpacking training!
We got a doggie backpack from Granite Gear for Wiki, to train her to carry her own food and water while we go backpacking in the summer.
The design is great and the pack is highly adjustable, and Wiki seems to like it ok, although in the pictures below she looks kinda sad because it is quite cold today (subzero) and super windy (35mph).
We think the backpack makes her feel like she’s on a mission, thats the reason why the entire time she doesn’t pick up one thing from the street and is very very focus.

Camping and hiking at Kaaterskill waterfall
It has been a looong time I have not update this blog and sorry I am just plain busy. Time past so fast! We went to Catskill area to hike and camp in September 2008 and here are some pictures. Wiki is so photogenic yea! All photo by YOUNG JUNG!
Fall/ Winter time!
Some pic Young “da dominant one” took at the East River Park. She LOVED playing in the piles of leaves.
Wiki is wearing a “turnout dog blanket” made by Dover Saddlery. It is a bit expensive but its super durable and really keep her warm in snow. We highly recommend it!
2009
In July 2009, we moved to our tiny 1 bed room apartment in Prospect Heights Brooklyn
Sis Winnie visiting from SF (December, 2009)

At our new apartment on Washington Ave
Wiki loves Prospect Park!
The Pet Camp
When we went on vacation we used to board Wiki here in Middleton, NY. It was a nice polo field with horse barn and she would have her own stable to spent the night. She loved to eat the horse poops and every time she came back she smells like manure for days.
Wiki’s dinner tonight, leftover include: chicken, pork and chive dumplings, several pieces of cocktail olives, celery and rice. What a spoiled princess!
2012
What a spoiled princess! Wiki’s dinner tonight: left over- grilled honey-rosemary pork chops, grilled flank steak with salt/ pepper (cooked rare), home fries from local diner and fresh scallions! (June, 2012)
Aug 20, 2012, 3:30 PMJust got my fourth pair of hiking boots. The other three that retired in honor in chronological order are: Salomon (water finally leak into the sole), Merrell (wear till the vibram soles slope like Mount Shasta my fav so far) and Asolo (tough boots abused it too much now I use as my construction boots). Can’t wait to test out the Norwegian Welt and the old school no gore-tex one piece leather construction :-) (Aug 20, 2012)

Thanks for posting all these wonderful pictures of your dog, Wiki! It’s so wonderful to see a pit bull treated as they should be, with love and as a member of the family. They are the very best dogs and I would never have another breed.
Looking forward to more stories and pictures :–)

Just surfing the web trying to figure out if my dog is a pit mix or what. Found this site and Wiki looks fairly similar to my Griz. Weird thing is that Griz and Wiki share almost the same story. Very interesting. Anyway, I love all your pictures of your beautiful dog. Thanks for sharing.
